| Description | A variety of papers pertaining to a survey conducted in 1963 on behalf of the Peak Park Planning Board of the tourist industry in the Peak District National Park. Includes requests for financial assistance to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, a list of proposed questions and the general aims of the survey (which is said in one document to be providing "the first positive step to finding out what people expected of a National Park"), and a thorough plan for the survey. Most interesting is the report of the survey's findings, published in February 1965. This offers a brief background to the park's history, before going on to assess expenditure and numbers of different types of visitors, and provisions within the park and visitors' responses to these. There is then a summarised version of the report giving its major conclusions. |
