Description Volume 1, "Chicago & St. Louis Conventions 1896," chronicles Morgan’s journey to the 1896 Republican and Democratic National Conventions in St. Louis and Chicago, respectively. The volume begins in New York, travelling through Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Virginia, including stops at the Luray Caverns, Natural Bridge and Greenbrier White Sulphur Springs. Illustrations of the 27 May 1896 St. Louis tornado precede materials from the Republican National Convention which include tickets, portraits, and newspaper clippings. From St. Louis, Morgan travelled to Peoria for the Illinois State Democratic Convention and then on to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention. Materials include menus, clippings, and portraits. From Chicago, the scrapbook follows his return journey to Boston through Detroit, Ottawa, Vermont, and North Conway, NH.
